This boutis quilt, dated around 1770, it's small scale patterns were also used as dress fabric of the period ~ this quilt is backed in 18th century hemp and there is a medium cotton batting between the layers. This quilt has soul and style , it's simplicity is stunning~ This extraordinary piece is ideal for display as a bedspread, draped over a sofa, or even hung as wall art to celebrate its historical significance. It's perfect for collectors of antique textiles or anyone looking to add a touch of 18th-century French charm to their home. Measurements : This lovely textile measures approximately 57 inches by 56 inches Condition: I've left this lovely textile in as found condition, for special collections and it can be hand washed. This piece has aged gracefully with the natural wear and patina of time, which only adds to its authenticity and charm. The backing is worn near the middle, as usual!~ The backing has some hand mends, very soulful. It does have some scattered marks and areas of discoloration, as shown in the photographs. However, for an 18th century white quilt, it's in fabulous condition ( the front! ) These are typical of textiles from this period and are part of the story of this quilt's journey through time.
